Description: The Cryobank of IBE preserves in liquid nitrogen (-196 °C), the following accessions: (i) polyembrionic seeds from 24 accessions of Citrus spp. from the Medicean Collection of Villa Reale di Castello, in Florence (XVI° Century); (ii) dormant buds from 19 accessions of ancient varieties from the Veneto region, Italy; (ii) dormant buds from 3 accessions of plum (Prunus domestica) from the C.A.V.-Center of Nursery Activities of Tebano, Ravenna.

Autochthonous Certified Olive Germplasm of Emilia Romagna (CNR-IBE-ACOGER)

Description: The dataset consists of 29 olive tree (Olea europaea) autochthonous genotypes of Emilia Romagna (Northern Italy) maintained at the CNR-IBE Conservation Centre, Multiplication Centre, and olive plant nursery according to European and national (QVI) rules. The aims of the collection are: (i) safeguard, identify, and select autochthonous olive genetic resources of the Emilia Romagna region; (ii) Registration of selected genotypes in the Regional Volunteer Repertoire of Agricultural Genetic Resources; (iii) Registration of selected genotypes on National Inventory of Pre-base material; (iv) Propagation and commercialization of selected genotypes according to genetic and sanitary certified EU rules; (v) Reintroduction of autochthonous genotypes in olive orchards with higher agronomic features and improved quality of oils; (vi) Valorization of Northern Italy EVOOs biodiversity; (vii) Selection of oils characterized by valuable and peculiar aromas that can differentiate them from the oils currently available on the market; (viii) Selection of oils with high nutritional properties (high content in phenols, vitamins, and oleic acid), stressing their importance in the prevention of degenerative and cardiovascular diseases.

Sources are represented by bank collection (DMSZ, FCBA), fungi collected in forest, in situ on wooden structures, etc.
