Description
This dataset comprises the occurrences associated to the riverine invertebrates’ specimens collected from riffle mesohabitat of slightly altered rivers located in the Northwestern Italian Alps and specifically in the Piedmont Region (Piemonte). Each row in the dataset corresponds to a single vial related to a single sampling event (site and date) and to a specific sampling unit. The single vial contains one or more individuals of the same taxon. A catalogue number consisting of the collection code (PIEMNR) and a progressive six digit number is assigned to each row. The final digit is a letter if pictures of the preserved specimens were taken. This dataset is provided within the Activity WP6.6, "National Network of Aquatic Science Collections," of the ITINERIS project - Italian Integrated Environmental Research Infrastructures System - CUP B53C22002150006.
Taxonomic Coverage
The dataset comprises the occurrences of 43 invertebrate families, divided in three phyla, two classes and 13 orders. The most represented taxonomic group is the Arthropoda phylum and particularly the Insecta class. For three insect orders, namely Plecoptera, Odonata and Ephemeroptera, occurrence data are available at the genus level (13 genera).
