A clonal field collection of Olive trees was planted in 2014 in Lugnano in Teverina (PG, Central Italy) and is currently maintained through the collaboration of the CNR-IBBR and CNR-ISAFOM institutes of Perugia. The collection also includes progenies from various crosses of Olive tree cultivars, and minor Olive tree cultivars from Umbria, Italy. The main goal of the collection is the long-term preservation of the olive biodiversity as a source of genetic material for the selection and cultivation of new cultivars. Molecular identification, morphological characterization, and bio-agronomic and metabolic evaluation work are currently underway in these collections.
