IPSP Cypress Multipurpose Clonal Dataset (IPSP-CYPRESS)

doi: https://doi.org/10.15468/bxwze2
Record Count: 4,058
Dataset Type: Occurrence
Dataset subtype: n/a

Description: The collection includes clones and seed plants of Cupressus sempervirens and 7 other species of the genus Cupressus (old world cypresses) as well as 17 species of the genus Hesperocyparis (new world cypresses), a genus of trees in the family Cupressaceae, containing North American species formerly assigned to the genus Cupressus. The collection which includes 4064 accessions, has been established since 1975 to study the response to cypress canker disease within the genus Cupressus and select resistant cypress genotypes for various uses.

Plant Virus Italy - CNR-IPSP collection in Turin (PLAVIT-01)

doi: https://doi.org/10.15468/trnr4h
Record Count: 438
Dataset Type: Occurrence
Dataset subtype: Specimen

Description: PLAVIT Collection preserves more than 1100 isolates (Plant Viruses, Viroids, Bacteriophages) collected mainly in Italy but also from other countries (Europe, Asia, Africa, and America), including 134 distinct viral species belonging to the main taxonomic groups. A limited number of non-mechanically transmissible viral species are stored as infectious clones at - 80° C. Preservation Techniques: (i) Dried leaves: lyophilized infected leaves are stored at -20°C; (ii) Liquid Nitrogen: infected leaves are stored in liquid nitrogen. The PLAVIT collection is partner of MIRRI Italian Node (http://www.mirri-it.it) and partner of H2020 EU project EVA-GLOBAL (https://www.european-virus-archive.com). Since 2015, It is also member of ECCO (European Culture Collection Organization) and of WFCC (World Federation of Culture Collection - number 1057).

Forest Tree Fungal Collection (IPSP-FTFC)

doi: https://doi.org/10.15468/rapbdp
Record Count: 491
Dataset Type: Occurrence
Dataset subtype: n/a

Description: The IPSP-FTC dataset includes plant pathogenic fungi causing diseases on forest and urban trees. Fungi were isolated from plant material of various origin, and were characterized by their pathogenicity on plant species. The accessions are maintained in vitro on artificial substrates, in refrigerators at -4°C in glass tubes or at -20 °C in glycerol, or as spores and conidia on vegetal material. Strains are available for research purposes.

CNR-IPSP Tree Fungal Pathogens Dataset (collection CNR-IPSP-FPOFUAOPWS)

doi: https://doi.org/10.15468/2wsrke
Record Count: 134
Dataset Type: Occurrence
Dataset subtype: Specimen

Description: The dataset includes Ascomycetous fungi isolated from forest and urban trees (Ophiostoma ulmi, O.novo-ulmi , Ceratocystis platani, Diplodia sapinea, Botryosphaericeae) and oomycetes isolated in ornamental nursery (Pythium, Phytophthora, Mortariella). The CNR-IPSP-FPOFUAOPWS collection preserves about 1500 strains for research purposes, also includes strains from collections of other Research centers or Universities. The strains are mainly isolated from plant tissues in different geographical areas. Preservation techniques: (i) CRYO: Freezer at -20 °C, in cryovials with spore suspension or with mycelium plug in water glycerol (50% v/v) or in pure water; (ii) FRESH CULTURES: Refrigerator at 4 °C in agar slants with mycelium. The ultimate goals of the collection are: taxonomical Identification (morphological, molecular), molecular typing; isolation, preservation and cultivation of microorganisms; population genetic studies; genetic and phenotypic variability; host-pathogen interaction; inoculation for disease resistance; biocontrol; ecological and physiology studies, biochemical characterization. The collection is a partner of the MIRRI Italian Node (https://www.mirri-it.it).
